While Selecting Cushions For Your Wood Patio Furniture, What Are The Things You Would Consider

Patio is termed by many other names and they are outdoor room and sunroom. Patios are just not an open area which is reserved for outdoor recreations but instead it is a place where we love to spend our free time, where lot of exhange of conversations happen between friends and family and importantly we tend to have a close relationship with the nature. This is why more care is given in decorating your patio.

It involves a lot of time in decorating your patio, but keep certain points before you start to develop :• You must select the furniture’s which are comfortable and weather resistant.•  Unwanted clutter should be avoided• To make your mood relaxing, try to arrange it is a pleasing manner.• Try to incorporate some greenery and water body in the theme if you some space.• Don’t forget your daily visitors, yes the birds and the squirrels in the patio.

Patio furniture must be weather resistant and comfortable. there are many types of wooden patio furniture’s, they are very appealing but not all woods suit for a patio. If you purchasing power are high you can go for teak wood furniture. Tropical; hard wood trees give out the teak as there spices. It is widely seen in the regions of South and South East Asian Monsoon Forests. It was formed with dense grains and also has a type of natural oil in it. This tendency makes it in-flammable, water resistant and pet resistant. Mold, mildew or decay can also be prevented by this natural oil. Teak is very much preferred for its elegance and maintenance free nature.

Shorea, is a other variety of genus of rainforest trees, and they are also suitable for outdoor furniture making. these trees are grown in the native places of South and South-East Asia, but they are  widely grown in comparison with  teak  and therefore the cost is  much less.  like teak, even shorea wood patio furniture can fight mold, mildews and decay. Oak, cedar and eucalyptus are the other varieties of trees which can make good outdoor furniture.

Cedar furniture is popular for its shades of colors in the wood which ranges from light amber to deep honey brown. Similar to shorea or teak, cedar wood patio furniture also does not need any special finishing’s as it   fights natural elements very well. when manufacturing wood patio furniture even Eucalyptus wood is also good material can also be made. It normally tends to contract and expand with the change in temperature even it is a very dense wood. It may create some cracking in the wood, but the durability of the furniture will not be spoiled at any time. You can also create a rustic setting.

However, furniture alone cannot create the mood, nor can it make the patio comfortable. You need suitable outdoor cushions too. In fact, plenty of bright and gay outdoor cushions and matching patio umbrella are the two main ingredients that can transform any patio into a beautiful corner. Generally, such outdoor cushion fabrics are chosen for their water resistant quality. A suitable cushion fabric should at least be 95% water repellent. Of course, that means that 5% of water will seep inside and that is why the fillings too need to be water repellent and allow for easy drain out.

Apart from being water repellent, the cushion fabrics should also be tear resistant and easy to clean. there is not only dirt and dust, but also pugmarks and bird droppings to take care of. In especial cases, you may have to wipe them with soapy water, but under normal condition a hose down is enough to take care of all the dirt and stains. being fade resistant is another quality such a cushion must have. otherwise, the carefully chosen color will fade away to make the whole setting ugly instead of aesthetically pleasing.

The patio must not be a messy, it must be arranged neatly. You must keep in mind to leave some place for your kids and pets to play and also you can try out games like basketball and corn hole. In order to keep you’re indoor away from cleaning after parties use patio heaters in your patio.  In case if you host parties at the patio you must surely have place for your guests to move around. If you cannot have bigger water bodies try out small fountains and planted pots or basket plants. Keep some food for the birds and the squirrels which will make your patio more relaxing.

Careful planning lets childrens rooms change easily from nursery to teen haven

As the mother of a 16-year-old and a 6-month-old, Jennifer Brown knows how quickly the years go by and how quickly a bedroom needs to change as a child grows.

With this in mind, instead of decorating her baby’s nursery in bright colors or cartoon characters, she opted for a more timeless look that can transition easily as her daughter, Campbell Grace Brown, grows.

“I spent almost my entire pregnancy planning the room, but it is now so useful and relaxing, and nothing is too childish so it can evolve as Campbell gets older,” said Brown. she also planned specific spaces in the room for reading and toys.

Brown consulted with Heidi Dawson of Heidi Dawson Interiors, formerly Diva Redesign Group, to develop a cohesive plan that focused on keeping the room relaxing and

functional for her, her husband, Stacey, and her baby girl.

Instead of using a trendier fuchsia paint on all the walls, they decided on a more neutral pale pink and used a deeper pink on the ceiling.

“I liked having that pop of color on the ceiling, but I also made sure that we used low-emission paint to protect Campbell,” Brown said.

Dawson said brighter colors are beautiful, but grow old after about two to three years. she thinks it’s better to use them in a smaller space, such as a hall bath.

After searching through many fabric books, they selected a neutral toile for the balloon-shade window treatments. Brown’s mother made them using a pale pink silk as an accent fabric and then adding pink ribbons to pull the shades up and down and to add a feminine touch. Dawson said the curtains can easily work in a master bedroom and transition by changing the ribbon.

Furniture was selected to enhance the classic look, but with several pieces that add an eclectic feel, Brown said. she met April George, a furniture distributor, at Hope Market Square at Hope Church in Cordova last year. George sells custom handmade children’s furniture by a Missouri craftsman. a tall, mint green dresser with a removable diaper-changing top was specially crafted, and Brown said the furniture is now available at Cotton Tails in Memphis.

Her front-end investment piece was the dark-chocolate wood Chelsea crib by Bratt Decor ($1,400), special-ordered from Babytime, a Cordova children’s boutique. the crib will later convert into a headboard and footboard for a full bed.

“You have to spend more money for the convertible crib, but it is a bed that can be used for the next 15 years,” Brown said.

An oversized armoire in antique white with chicken-wire inserts and mint green accents, a bedside table and an upholstered neutral animal print chair/glider for rocking and reading to the baby finish the room without making it seem too babyish or completely matching. the chair/glider, made by Jim Nabors, owner of Fabric By the Square in Collierville, pairs with a matching ottoman that also glides.

While furniture was the biggest financial investment for the room, Brown and Dawson worked hard to save money on bedding and accessories.

They found chenille bedding and a shag rug in creamy neutral colors and a more affordable miniature chandelier for inside the armoire at Sheffield Antiques Mall in Collierville. As they searched for vintage children’s art for the walls, Brown went online to Etsy.com and found an antique children’s book with pages that were easy to frame and less expensive. This online source also offered picture frames that worked well with the decor and now feature photographs of the baby’s grandparents.

Other details in the room include a small mannequin hanger that displays Brown’s husband’s yellow baby dress. An antique shelf with coat hooks features coat-hangers covered in the toile from the draperies and displays Brown’s white baby dress.

Brown said parents can get caught up in the excitement of the baby on the way and plans for a special bedroom. “We have to really ask ourselves how we will actually use the room and pick out things that we will still love in 10 years.”

She recommends staying away from trends in the main pieces of the room and adding fad items as small accessories. the room has to be functional first and foremost, and she realizes this even more in the first months of her daughter’s life, when she quickly needed to grab a diaper or change of clothing. When the room eventually becomes too young-looking, she suggests changing the more inexpensive components first, such as bedding and wallpaint.

As her son, Christopher Morgan, grew into his teen years, she added items that included giant cork boards to the walls for displaying his mementos and a bean bag chair and a large reading pillow.

When Teresa Zilinsky of Teresa Zilinsky Designs was hired to update the bedroom of a teenage girl in Hickory Withe, she had to find a way to satisfy the wishes of both mother and daughter.

The mother wanted a more traditional look, and the daughter wanted something lively, said Zilinsky. she began by finding a traditional paisley fabric in bright colors with a black background for the window treatments.

“The paisley was very traditional, but the bright colors of teal blue and lime green made it more fun and something that could carry well through the teen years,” she said.

The walls were painted a soft green in the sitting area and a softer blue in the sleeping area, where the bed was covered in a neutral green quilt that was both durable and washable.

She opted for fuzzy pillows for the bed, noting that they could be replaced with softer, more traditional ones later. a more modern dresser was also added to update the room.

Transitioning rooms as children grow

From Biggs Powell of Biggs Powell Interior Design and Antiques:

1. Paint the bedroom a more mature color. Powell suggests using more subtle colors with less tint than those typically associated with infant rooms.

2. Wallpaper one wall with something bold and paint the rest of the room a complementary color or use inexpensive vinyl that looks like grass cloth and provides texture, durability and value.

3. Change the draperies.

4. Replace twin beds with a queen. a headboard and dust ruffle give the opportunity to bring in pattern, color and scale.

5. Update the rug.

6. Re-cover an heirloom (occasional chair, wing chair or settee) for a fresh look.

Outdoor Chair Pads

1287554527 43 Outdoor Chair Pads

Outdoor chair pads for patio or garden furniture give you comfortable cushions, serving as a layer between iron, wicker, or another surface.

Many homes have outdoor areas such as patios, porches and gardens which can be comfortable places to spend time during times of the year when the weather is fine. There is a range of outdoor furniture for use in these, much of which is sturdily built from materials such as wood, metal and plastic. this can be hard wearing to sit on, especially for longer periods of time and outdoor chair pads can be used to make this style of furniture more comfortable to use.

Outdoor chair pads are basically seat cushions which are designed for use on patio and other outdoor styles of furniture.  they come in a variety of sizes such that they are available for use with most types of furniture from single seat chairs to chaise lounge and bench furniture. many are produced in weather resistant materials so that they can be left outside and cope with the worst of the weather, although most are loose fitting and it is easy to pick them up and take them inside if you need to do so.

While some outdoor chair pads consist purely of a seat cushion for sitting on, others are made of a connected seat and back cushion which can be a more comfortable option. many also come with ties such that they can be more securely fastened to the chair and this can help to better keep them in place.

If you need outdoor chair pads for your patio furniture they can be found in a range of locations. The internet can be a good place to look for them and there are a few web retailers that have them available. Examples of this include Patio Shoppers, Custom Cushions and the Cushion Source. they have a variety of chair pads for outdoor use on offer and these are made by a number of manufacturers such as Sunbrella and Sedona.

If you prefer shopping in-store then there a few places that have outdoor chair pads for sale. Target is a good example of this and they have a wide selection available in various styles and patterns. Lowes is another example of a retailer that has a wide selection of chair pads for outdoor furniture available.

The cost of chair pads for outdoor furniture will be influenced by factors such as the size of the cushion, its thickness and the material used in its manufacture. Prices typically start around the $20 mark for a single seat cover with the Arden Outdoor Kuai Stripe Wrought Iron Seat Pad Cushion from Lowes being an example of this. this cushion is available for $20. The price will rise for larger outdoor seat pads with the Caluco Sunbrella Overstuffed Chair Cushion, which comprises a connected seat and back cushion, costing around $180 to purchase from Patio Shoppers.

If you are looking to make the outdoor areas of your home a more relaxing place to spend time, then providing outdoor chair pads for the furniture can help. These weatherproof cushions will enhance the look of your furniture as well as making them more comfortable to sit on and this makes them a good option to consider for your patio and garden furniture.

Week 1 Neutral Zone Wrap

1287381722 12 Week 1 Neutral Zone Wrap

We’ve hit the first week of the NHL season. your fantasy team (assuming you’re not waiting until the final seconds to draft) is taking shape and the prospects are promising. After all, you were able to complete the draft while working and walking the dog simultaneously (what, you don’t have a pet-sized treadmill in your home office?!). so, naturally, your lineup is ready to go.

But then, your mind fills with questions. what do I do with that excess at a certain position? do I trade now or wait a few weeks? Should I really be dropping a decent name for a possible waiver wire dud? how soon will it be before the injury bug affects my guys? while you’d think the responses to these problems might be varied, you would be surprised to learn how similar they become. have too many centers? as long as it doesn’t diminish the overall quality of your team, then a transaction is recommended. want to feel like a real GM but can’t wait? See previous answer. how about that un-owned rookie/veteran who is projected to tear up the league? Yup, same answer.

Injuries pose an entirely different problem. sometimes your best skaters fall victim to bruises, breaks, knockouts, or unfortunate golf cart accidents. how can you protect yourself against player injuries? you can’t because, well, they’re inevitable. But you can do your darnedest to pick up the best available replacement before someone else beats you to it. sometimes, the top-ranked free agents prove to be the best solution. But in other instances, the people who are filling those roles on the actual NHL clubs end up working out better. Let’s take a look at a few examples of the latter. We’ll see who is out and then discuss both the safe and riskier alternate options:

Who has fallen: Mark Streit, D, NY Islanders. Streit is the owner of a really, really separated shoulder (along with a torn rotator cuff, labrum, and confidence) in training camp. He is expected to be sidelined until at least February.

Who will pick up the slack …

The obvious: James Wisniewski was acquired from Anaheim in June to be a supplemental blue line producer. now in his sixth season, The Wiz will be asked for a lot more. He received his first prolonged taste of power-play activity with the Ducks (although only 17 power play points in two campaigns), thereby appointing him as the prime candidate to quarterback the first unit. sorry for anyone who expected youngster Calvin De Haan to provide an immediate impact, as he was returned to the junior level.

The reach: Of the remaining defensemen from last spring, Jack Hillen should have been the one given first crack to climb the ranks. After all, the stats are decent (21 in 69) for someone who arrived in 2008 as an undrafted walk-on. Hillen is still only 24, but lately he’s been treated as a wash-up by receiving secondary preseason duty. Andrew MacDonald, also 24, is also being tabbed to add some punch from the point, although his 2009-10 was barely noteworthy (seven in 46).

Who has fallen: Kyle Okposo and Rob Schremp, F, NY Islanders. Okposo became another lucky recipient of the dreaded separated shoulder (along with a torn labrum). He might see action before the end of December, but probably shouldn’t. meanwhile, Schremp took a cross-check to the back and will miss up to a month.

Who will pick up the slack …

The obvious: Josh Bailey enters his third full season having just turned 21. The 2008 first-rounder hasn’t necessarily impressed on offense (60 combined points), but he showed enough maturity last year and worked hard in the summer to make the leap to a legitimate 40-to-50 point scorer. Also under consideration are feisty winger Blake Comeau (35 in only 61), solid two-way’er Trent Hunter (double-digit goals in each of six seasons), and the littlest Dane, Frans Nielsen (38 in 76). We’d recommend fifth overall pick Nido Niederriter, but the smart money says he’ll be back in juniors before reaching his 10-game limit.

The reach: PA Parenteau may be a shootout legend, but not many fans – let alone Islander enthusiasts – gave the former Ranger farmhand a chance. The AHL numbers may be impressive (204 in his last 184) and his NHL start passes the test (eight in 22), but he’s made his mark in this most recent training camp. Parenteau has built a rapport with John Tavares and the two have clicked during preseason action. how long this partnership lasts depends on how badly the Hull native wants to stick with the big club.

Who has fallen: Matt Stajan and Daymond Langkow, F, Calgary. Stajan is battling a separated shoulder (hey, only two more mentions to get this injury trending on Twitter!) and his return is unknown. Langkow makes the long-term absentee list with assorted concussion-related injuries from a nasty hit back in March.

Who will pick up the slack …

The obvious: as much as I hate to say it, Olli Jokinen will receive top-line responsibilities by default. Let’s not forget how well Jokinen initially paired with Jarome Iginla (12 in eight for the Finn), that is, before it fell apart months later. and there’s always prospect Mikael Backlund, who may finally be ready to play consistently and has received high marks from head coach Brian Sutter.

The reach: from all indications, Brendan Morrison performed well in his attempted Vancouver comeback but was ultimately cut and found his way one province east. The last two resurrections in Anaheim and Washington turned out to be subpar (although 42 points with the Caps aren’t that bad), where he was expected to shoulder the second-line load but tailed off as the season progressed. Morrison shares a positive history of teaming with top talent (Markus Naslund comes to mind), but that’s no guarantee for immediate success should he ever line up with Iginla. if there’s anyone who knows the benefits of sharing the ice with Iggy, it’s Craig Conroy. One can recall the glory days between 2001 and 2004, where the pair torched opponents for roughly a point per game. even at 39, Conroy can make up for his diminished skills with more applied experience than the rest of the forward contingent combined.

Who has fallen: Marc Savard, F, Boston. Everyone remembers the incident with Matt Cooke, right? Unfortunately, Savard can’t recall too much and still isn’t feeling well enough to put on the pads. no set timetable for a return.

Who will pick up the slack …

The obvious: many are ready to anoint no. 2 selection Tyler Seguin as the savior to Boston’s scoring woes, but let’s not forget the established options that need to raise their efforts. when the Bruins invested $4M a year on Michael Ryder, many questioned the move. The ex-Hab’s 2009-10 totals (33 in 82) won’t sway the naysayers, but a solid season will. Blake Wheeler (38 in 82) will also need to step it up and a regular gig with Patrice Bergeron shouldn’t hurt his chances.

The reach: Jordan Caron will turn 20 next month, but the B’s are confident the kid can make the jump directly from the QMJHL to the NHL. After a couple sweet exhibition tallies and a willingness to give it his all, many believe Caron can maintain those expectations.

Who has fallen: Andrei Markov and Roman Hamrlik, D, Montreal. Markov underwent offseason ACL surgery after he was knocked out of the playoffs (also via Matt Cooke) and is looking for a late October/early November debut. Hamrlik tweaked a knee last week and should only miss a handful of games. But hey, he’s 36, so we can probably double that projection.

Who will pick up the slack …

The obvious: if you consider PK Subban a ’sleeper’, then you didn’t watch the playoffs or you don’t follow any recent media. Anyone who witnessed Subban’s seamless transition from AHL destroyer (63 in 84 total appearances) to NHL workhorse (eight, including three PPAs) will be able to recognize the immense fantasy upside over an 82-game schedule. But try not to go overboard on a projection. After all, it’s a long year for a rookie. and his nasty streak may add penalty minutes but it also lands him in hot water with both his club and the league.

The reach: besides Jaroslav Spacek and the aforementioned Subban, no other healthy Hab defender fits the bill of offensive contributor. part of this comes from a balanced commitment at both ends, but the losses of Marc-Andre Bergeron and Paul Mara hurt the overall point production. The only holdover that comes close to qualifying is Josh Gorges (reached 23 points in 2008-09), who logs significant ice time and makes the odd rush but will never be confused for Bobby Orr.

Evan Berofsky enjoys writing. Seriously. when he’s not trying to shove hockey miscellany down your throat, he gets his kicks playing tournament Scrabble. if you have anything to say about Evan’s work (or need any hot word tips), feel free to contact him at follow him on Twitter (@evanberofsky).

Trex® Outdoor Furniture Collection to Combine Style and Comfort with Durability

WINCHESTER, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Trex Company (NYSE: TREX), the nation’s largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking, railing, fencing and trim products, announced that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Syracuse, Ind.-based Poly-Wood, inc., to develop and market stylish and comfortable outdoor living furniture. The Trex® Outdoor Furniture collection will include 26 exclusive designs across four different product lines to complement low-maintenance and eco-friendly Trex outdoor living spaces.

“with this launch, we’ll not only offer additional profitable product options to our existing professional partners – but we’ll also have the opportunity to enter new distribution channels and retail locations.”

Featuring beautiful craftsmanship and with an emphasis on comfort, the introductory Trex Outdoor Furniture collection will include seating options like Adirondack chairs, ottomans, settees, sofas and chaise lounges, as well as coffee tables, side tables and dining sets. Each piece will be available in six distinctive colors – such as Vintage Lantern, Tree House, Classic White and Charcoal Black – that may be mixed and matched with Trex Transcend® decking and railing for a completely customized outdoor living space. The line will boast Trex’s signature curved look, thermoformed contours and generous seat widths, as well as cushions and pillows in a range of Sunbrella® fabrics.

“This partnership is a significant potential growth driver for Trex, as it will strategically expand our brand presence in the outdoor living arena and position us to drive consumer awareness and acceptance of the emerging high-performance outdoor furniture segment,” said Ronald W. Kaplan, chairman, president and CEO of Trex. “With this launch, we’ll not only offer additional profitable product options to our existing professional partners – but we’ll also have the opportunity to enter new distribution channels and retail locations.”

True to the brand’s green heritage, Trex Outdoor Furniture will be an environmentally responsible choice. Created from Poly-Wood’s unique blend of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) raw materials, the furniture is manufactured from more than 90 percent recycled content – including post-consumer materials, such as milk jugs and laundry detergent bottles.

Durable and weather-resistant, Trex Outdoor Furniture features the same low maintenance and durability as the core Trex product line. It won’t rot, splinter or crack, and – unlike wood furniture – doesn’t require staining, sealing, painting or refinishing to remain looking beautiful over time. Additionally, Trex Outdoor Furniture shares the same enhanced benefits as the high-performance Trex Transcend product line with exceptional resistance to food spills, insects, mold and mildew, salt spray and other environmental elements often encountered in backyards and on patios, decks and beaches. A five-year residential warranty offers extra protection for consumers.

“Poly-Wood and Trex are both proven leaders in the outdoor living industry, and we share a commitment to superior performance and aesthetics – as well as environmental consciousness,” said Doug Rassi, owner of Poly-Wood. “We’re confident that this will be a strategic opportunity to dominate a rapidly growing product category and launch an outdoor furniture collection that is relevant to the needs of consumers.”

Trex Outdoor Furniture will be available at retail and to the trade in November.
